Vision Casting: Development of ADS-W Community Resource and Training Centre

Vision Casting: Development of ADS-W Community Resource and Training Centre

Over the last 25 years, ADS-W has implemented numerous development projects and trained over 100,000 beneficiaries on diverse technologies in agriculture, environment and community health, with the aim of contributing to transformed lives. In the course of celebrating her 25th Anniversary in 2022, the board of ADS-W reflected on the need to work towards sustaining our interventions beyond project periods and cycles.

Thus, the board envisions establishing a Community Resource and Training Center (CRTC) in Kakamega County for sustained training, demonstration, and capacity building for our communities and stakeholders on various technologies. It focuses on agriculture, climate change, peaceful coexistence, and community health, among other emerging areas. This will also be a research center in line with ADS-W areas of intervention. Further, ADS-W intends to undertake income-generating projects within the centre as part of institutional sustainability and to mitigate the risks that accrue from full donor dependence on development programs. The center will serve as the ADS-W headquarters.

One of the key outputs is the identification and purchase of at least 5 acres of land in Kakamega County where the CRTC shall be established. The board of directors has put together a fundraising and resource mobilization event on November 25 at the Golf Hotel to aid in the purchase and development of land within Kakamega County. We humbly invite all our partners, stakeholders, and friends of ADS-W to come alongside us and hold our hands towards the realization of this vision.

Thank you,

Stephen Amusala, ADSW CEO
